iOS 26 DIARY: I love a new look and direction, with riders

The way we produce iOS 26 from the first developer Beta, and now that the public beta is out, they see a good time to share my early views on the greatest shocks of appearance and user interface of the iPhone for many years.

Races, beta will be beta and there were several defects on the way, but I must say that one of my applications will not run, so I should have been to get a good feeling for everyday use.

The only application that falls open to me is the Spark e -mail client, so the time temporary reversed to the Stock Mail app.

The appearance of liquid glass

Back on days when we expected iOS 18 to follow iOS 19, I said I expected a new look to have a greater impact on people than Siri improvisation. I just knew it just as It is true that it will be, because we are still waiting for most of the new Siri features.

I also predicted that the new look in what turned out to be iOS 26 would prove to be controversial, and that it was too much. But I have to say that I am a big fan overall!

Frankly, in recent years, one generation of iPhone has looked similar to the last and the same is true for iOS. I was a little bored when I saw the same old thing, so I was ready for something new, even if it inevitably had some rough edges in the beta stages.

Some were critical of the discrepancies of appearance. For example, Apple responded to the control panel’s readability complaints by creating these controls matt glass, while most of the user interface included clear glass. For me, however, both, Uh, clearly based on a glass, and I do not see it as a problem to have a number of glass appearances.

One of the big questions was to what extent Apple went to Skeuomorfism before iOS 7. The answer is … not really. The camera icon is perhaps the closest thing we get to it, but it doesn’t even try to look like a real camra, just a real realistic lens. Most applications icons retain their original symbols and have a somewhat fine 3D glass effect.

I’m a very big fan of this look. Really, my only criticism would be that it didn’t go far enough. I would like to see Apple bolder and dial both glass and 3D printing by 30%.

Camera application

Speaking of the camera application, it also gets one of the most dramatic changes in the user interface. The lower slider has been replaced by “two buttons: video and photos.

I think it makes perfect sense. Probably 98% of the iPhone owners use these two functions only and most of the 2% probable most Do it.

I put a “replacement” into the inverted comma because the rider is still present. If you move through these buttons, then the previous options (timelapse, slo-mo etc.) appear in the same way as before.

The new user interface can certainly be criticized in the group that this is not particularly intuitive. There is no visual idea that you can glide for more options, nor can you click somewhere on the surrounding area and provoke other options:

But as soon as you know when the evening is, it’s actually very much effective UI and the way you like it a lot. If you don’t need it, it gets out of your journey, but all controls can be quickly and easy to highlight.

Application

Photos changes came for a lot of flasks, but for me the main problem is that the application progressively stronger and complicates what was once a very simple user interface.

As soon as Apple separated the library and collections into separate cards and I used the button to change the collections in the sensitive order for me, I found that the new user interface works really well.

I say that if you initially have, try to re -organize things that follow your OWS, and then give him a little time to grow on you.

Smarter phone applications

The most attractive new feature is a call screening that acts as a function of a live visual voicemail. This answer calls from unknown numbers and asks them who they are and what they want (probably to put a little more polite). Then it will show you the text version of their responsibility and then choose where to not answer the call.

Unfortunately, although this feature can be allowed in the UK, it never worked for me. Instead, he just refuses calls from unknown numbers.

There is also help. When you find yourself suspended, just click to connect the function and announces when the call was AWERED.

However, i’m Founding this is almost useless due to the extremely Annoying Way Most Companies Manage Their Hold Quaues – WHICH IS TO SWITCH BETWEEN MUSIC AND A VOICE MESSAGE TO EFFECT ‘WE APOLOGIS FOR THE DElay, WHICE WEV IS DUE TO AND UUSUAL VOLUMES BUT IS IN FACT WE DON. Pay for Enough Staff to Answer the Perfectly Normal Call Volumes We Are Experience. ”

To work properly, the system must distinguish between the short “Thanks for the call x, my name is, how can I help you?” Enter speech and lengthy “Your call is important to us, although it is not important for employees to properly, and we really hope to give up and try our website instead.”

There is also a new Unified UI that reduces the number of cards, but I am not a fan; I switched back to a normal look.

News

The main news for me in Messages is Anti-Spam similar to a phone where you do not see texts from unknown numbers on your hands, but you must view in the secondary display.

I am his fan, even if it is easy to forget to check the real messages, so I would prefer a challenge at the end of the day.

This is one case where Apple Intelligence, with something like “you have three texts from unknown numbers. Two frauds that tell you to offer you a job with tiktok and meta, says your flight to Boston has been delayed tomorrow.”

I like the feature of the poll that I use a lot in WhatsApp for things like searching data for group dinners, and I hate the ability to change the background as it happens for all.

Compact Safari cards

Apple Long Sale added a controversial movement of iOS 15 unified bar from the top of the screen to the bottom by allowing people to choose from. Personally, I was a strong transformation that I had it on the bottom of the screen.

But iOS 26 is a new option called Compact. It hides all the back button to get more usable screen space. Also, vertically shrinks and contrasts horizontally when you are not actively using it:

Immidels accepted it and did not look.

Apple Intelligence

The key ability of the Apple Intelligence I am waiting for is Siri, which can interact with my applications. I would really like to tell Sirim what I try to achieve (eg “organize dinner with Sat and Bill”) and let it do the rest – check your free events, create a poll, send them messages, make a restaurant, create a poll, and then make a reservation.

This kind of intelligent agent’s ability seems to be a very A long way away. What we have for the time being is a few steps for a child, such as the ability to identify data in events and offer them to add them to the calendar. In my limited testing, it only captures the first date for a multi -day event and does not do a good job in identifying its name. For now, quite unnecessary, but I’m glad I at least saw some steps in the right direction.

Similarly, the ability to spell names when dictating the text.

However, there seems to be one new feature of Apple Intelligence, which works far in the competition I have so far: live translation.

Many companies have promised it, but reality never meets expectations. The way so far has only been able to try it against conversational Spanish videos, but certainly for them it was phenomenally exact.

I will test it in a live conversation and report back in the future post.

Wrap

So far I really Like a new look – and would like to see Apple taking it further.

The function, there is a lot of work to make it all efficient and reliable, but I think the company is heading in the right direction and I am eagerly waiting for improvisation.

What am I really Waiting for the new Siri and it is clear that I will have a continuing lengthy. This is at least frustrating, especially given what else is from other technological companies. I very much hope that the final results justify waiting.
