The meta showed their new intelligent glasses with a built -in display, and while everyone is in a hurry to tell the Apple’s defeats a blow or a Visionos compete, the trafer is not accurate.

Something annoyed me to announce the META RAY-BAN display and I couldn’t put my finger on it. It was not Zuckerberg’s continuing embarrassment, unsuccessful demos or the price of $ 800 – that was the device itself.
AI glasses market
Meta describes the Meta Ray-Ban as “AI glasses” that are not especially AR, spatial or anything moniker you would like to use. These are the extension of the meta of rays of speakers and camera speakers.
Apple does not sell a product such as meta glasses, and it seems not to be careful about it. The legends point to the potential set of “Apple” AI glasses from 2026, which are struggling with meta, but these rumors behind them do not yet have a lot of weight.

After interconnecting through the commentary on these new glasses and parts of the Meta’s presentation I watched, it seems really important for the meta that people feel that glasses are inconspicuous and discreet.

Instead, the meta wants to make the glasses a girl with “AI” provided by third -party developers with a smartphone as an additional idea. I’m not sure whether Zuckerberg heard, but an evening attempt that a non-scaphone made to introduce Ai-Tuk, either failed and it is a tombstone along the road, or is destined for failure.
At least this has a display.
I am glad that the meta does not call these glasses AR because they are not. They are not unique, because glasses that can project the user interface were things from at least 2022.
What surprises me is all the puntites that called the meta of the latest “AI glasses” in Apple – a company that showed little interest over patents to produce such a device. No, the Meta Ray-Ban is not the forerunner of Apple Glasses, nor is it a competitor of Apple Vision Pro.
At best, they compete with the iPhone. Meta hopes that instead of looking at the crystal clean smartphone or Smartwatch display, users will want to see a semi -class widget a firm floating two feet in front of the right eye.
The Vision Apple platform is not about negotiations like a simple announcement, nor to replace traditional computing platforms – at least not yet. When starting and at its current iteration, it is an extension of user interfaces.

The META display is trying to replicate the smartphone interface elements on a small display that is operated by hand -borne hand gestures. With today’s technology, it is all possible and the meta has done it, but they seem to have forgotten to ask why they should do it.
Several millions already owned by META glasses are unlikely to run out and spend $ 800 on a worse display and experience than the one who already gets with their smartphone. Not to mention that the eyes and nightmare are privacy.

Instead, they will continue to use the real usefulness found in Metach with the bases of the beams that they already have. The wearable camera and a smart assistant connected to your smartphone are not a bad combo, although it is still a specialized audience.
However, once you introduce the Feales user interface that hopes to replicate or replace your smartphone, the previous tool is suddenly lost. Accessories trying to become a separate product is the one that flies too close to the sun.
Where Visionos goes
As a technology man, I will say that the meta is interested in something. The fact that they are interested or novel does not mean they are useful.

And if Apple has released the same product today, I would ask the same questions. However, I do not believe that Apple will release this product, even in the future.
Apple glasses are a complete different paradigm and will not be ready for several years. Goggles, which can arrive in 2026, are not part of the Visionos platform – just AirPodes with cameras.
If we follow the Vision Apple platform to its logical conclusion, it is a set of transparent lenses that have the ability to project Visionos into the real world. They would be a rough fixed 2D window, but a fully realized AR platform.
Imagine all -day wearable set of glasses that allow users to display widgets, windows and objects located. Notifications and applications are part of the Visionos, but physical objects such as iPhone, iPads, household hobbies and others are still existed and necessary.

Instead of changing your iPhone by Apple Glasses, Apple Glasses worked with the entire Apple ecosystem to expand and expand the capabilities and interactions of any device in your world. And they will do it with the glasses you want to wear.
It will be interested in seeing the meta iteral at its concept of “AI glasses” in intervention years before real glasses arrive. Although there is always a chance that the meta will quietly leave the whole thing and find the only other goal of investors friendly.
Meanwhile, US Apple users can continue to enjoy the expansion of reality with AirPods Pro and Apple Watch. And as soon as Apple’s real product arrives, we can bet that it will be private, secure and truly useful for its users.
